Ancient Bristlecones and Milky Way, Schulman Grove, White Mountains, CA

These 2 magnificent bristle cones on the Discovery Trail are over 4,000 years old. It is amazing to see how 2 trees so close to one another are so different. One is twisted and gnarled with very little foliage as where the other is upright and has a fair amount of foliage. We rose about 2:00 am to capture the Milky Way rising to produce this composition.

Scripps Pier at Sunset, La Jolla, CA

Scripps Pier in La Jolla, just North of San Diego, CA is positioned in such a way that the sun will set directly underneath it on a particular day in May and August each year. I was fortunate to have clear skies on this lovely evening.

Lightning Arch

An approaching storm was lighting up the sky with lightning and as I exposed this frame, an iridium flare occurred, which is a reflection off a passing satellite, a welcome bonus.
